AWESOME GIFT
I like Chuck Norris movies and this is definitely one of ‘his’ best films from the 80’s. One of a few films that had the theme of returning to Vietnam to rescue POW’s. Excellent action from the beginning to the end and is worth a watch for anyone Chuck Norris fans out there. Thank you Amazon.

Missing in Action
This movie shows the plight of U.S. soldiers declared MIA or dead in the Vietnam War and how they survive in enemy camps as slaves and torture victims. Chuck Norris stars as a well-skilled U.S. soldier who basically gets “mad as heck and will not take it anymore”. Although this is not a true story, U.S. soldiers will willingly testify that this is fairly accurate and in some cases, not nearly as horrific as some of the torture techniques that they saw. What would happen if a group of American soldiers decided “enough is enough” and plan an escape? You guessed it! Highly explosive action and high speed combat with everything from guns, grenades, bombs, and of course, Karate and Tae Kwon Do style martial arts. I mean, after all, this is a Chuck Norris movie. Norris in real life was and is one tough guy that has won many kickboxing titles and awards. This is a very good movie that is a little controversial in that it brings up the subject that is still debated on to this day(2014); Mr. U.S. President, ARE THERE STILL SOME U.S. SOLDIERS CAPTURED IN VIETNAM? This movie shows how events MIGHT occur if that were explored further.

Basic movie
Just the movie, no previews or ads. The only bad thing is that when you pause or stop blu rays, the movie starts from the beginning, it’s a flaw of blu rays. The movie itself is great.

âCannon Filmsâ produzierten in den 80ern jede Menge Actionfilme, neben Stars wie CHARLES BRONSON, JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMME und SYLVESTER STALLONE war auch CHUCK NORRIS bei ihnen unter Vertrag.
âMissing in Actionâ war der erste Film den die Produzenten MENAHEM GOLAN und YORAM GLOBUS mit NORRIS machten. Er war die Grundstein für NORRIS’ Status als gefeierter Actionheld, bis in die 90er folgten noch etliche Filme dieser Art.
âMissing in Actionâ ist eigentlich der zweite Film der Reihe, kam aber als erster ins Kino, âMissing in Action IIâ ist des halb auch keine Fortsetzung, sondern ein Prequel dazu.
Der Film appelliert an den amerikanischen Patriotismus und befriedigt die amerikanische Seele, die damals unter dem âVietnam-Traumaâ litt.
Tatsächlich zeigt die Handlung eine sehr einfache und einseitige Sicht auf den Vietnamkrieg, aber ich denke, dass hier einfach nur die Action im Mittelpunkt stand. Politische Aussagen waren wohl eher zweitrangig, man wollte dem Kinopublikum einen Helden präsentieren, jemand mit dem es sich identifizieren und mitfiebern konnte. Dass die Amerikaner die Guten sind und die Vietnamesen die Bösen ⦠geschenkt!
CHUCK NORRIS als Ein-Mann-Armee kann auf voller Linie überzeugen, der ganze Film ist auf ihn ausgerichtet, er ist er Gute, der strahlende Held bei dem alle Mittel den Zweck heiligen.
Die Story ist recht simpel, sie handelt von COLONEL BRADDOCK (Chuck Norris), der während des Vietnamkrieges aus einem Gefangenlager ausbrechen konnte und zehn Jahre später dorthin zurückkehrt. Als er feststellt, dass es immer noch amerikanische Gefangene im Dschungel gibt, beschlieÃt er auf eigene Faust loszuziehen, um sie zu befreien â¦..
Der Film ist ungeschnitten, die Qualität ist in Ordnung, in jedem Fall besser als die VHS-Kassette. Da der Film damals erst geschnitten und dann synchronisiert wurde, sind die Szenen, die damals herausgeschnitten wurden, nicht synchronisiert und nur im Originalton zu sehen. Das ist ein wenig störend, aber es hält sich in Grenzen und ist erträglich.
Mein Fazit: Wer auf knallharte 80er-Jahre-Action steht, der ist bei Filmen mit der âEin-Mann-Armeeâ CHUCK NORRIS immer bestens aufgehoben. Man sollte allerdings sehr viel Verständnis für übertriebenen US -Pathos und Patriotismus mitbringen, ansonsten wird man dem Film sehr schnell überdrüssig.
Mir gefällt er, er ist ein Teil aus meiner Jugend, wir sind damals voll drauf abgefahren, heute sehe ich das mit einem Augenzwinkern und sehr viel Gelassenheit, damals war es der Knaller!
Jüngere Zuschauer wird âMissing in Actionâ nicht unbedingt vom Hocker hauen, wer den Film aber in der Zeit gesehen hat, den Nostalgiefaktor schätzt, der dürfte immer noch auf seine Kosten kommen â ich finde ihn gut!
