Could be a sleeper Cult classic in due time.
Just like other older movies have become Cult classics after a period of time, getting new generations of folks watching them for the first time after years, sometimes decades later, I believe MEDIEVIL starring Ben Foster will become of those Medieval action dramas that will start getting the views once word gets out as to how cool this film is. First of all, the setting. In the Rocky hills of what is it? Southern France, I think? I’m not sure, I’m not an expert in European geography. You hardly ever see Medeival movies take place in this region of Europe. Most of the time they’re in England somewhere. But the setting alone is very unique. Second, the action is fantastic. Lots of jump scare stabs as such. But the fight scenes are about as brutal as anything filmed to date in this genre. I haven’t seen a lot of the streaming series or films on Netflix or others, but I’d say that these were as good if not better. The story was a little confusing to me, as in not understanding how kidnapping the woman changed anything, but for how the story unfolded and how it triggered fight scenes was fantastic.

SILLY BUDDY FILM: MAGNIFICENT SEVEN meets WAR WAGON with a bit of ROBIN HOOD
Negative:  Ben Foster, as the leader (how was that decided /when did that happen?) of this band spends most of his time — other than when battling — looking soulful, grieving, sorrowful, furious or compassionate.  Many many tight shots of his brooding face.Negative: Much of the conversation between the fellows in this band of good-guy rogues is silly, coming straight from some “buddy / bro” film; lots of humor at each others’ expense,  stern warnings which are intended to be funny, and a weak young man who finally steps up into his courageous self and — I’ll let you guess…The repeated use of gorgeous drone footage, while intriguing for a while, leaves me thinking the director must have just discovered such useful cinemagraphic tools.  Cheaper than constantly moving cameras for new shots in midst of dense forests.I could not figure out the relationships between many of the primary characters; “Wait: this guy is that guy’s brother? And who are these others who seem somehow related, but..? Where did that guy come from and why is he so angry at this other guy?”Positives:  gorgeous scenery of the Czech Republic’s wilderness areas. Some great battle scenes w unusual angles and perspectives in the midst of the combat including underwater combat.A friend from the Czech Republic confirmed the historical truth of the courage and contributions of Czech hero and icon Jan Zizka, so we can rest assured this is “based on historical events.”  Could they not have found a  Czech actor powerful enough to play this important historical character?

While not Historically Accurate a solid representation of an amazing military leader.
“Medieval” is a thrilling and action-packed film that will captivate audiences with its richly imagined depiction of medieval Europe. The film’s fast-paced, visually stunning battle sequences are a feast for the eyes, and the film’s talented cast of actors deliver standout performances that bring this era of history to life. One of the film’s greatest strengths is its portrayal of Jan Zizka, the legendary Bohemian military leader. Zizka is depicted as a charismatic and determined warrior who is fiercely dedicated to protecting his people from the forces of oppression. The film explores his complex motivations and the challenges he faced in leading his followers, making him a compelling and relatable hero. The film’s visual effects are top-notch and add to the overall immersive experience, creating a richly detailed and believable world that is easy to get lost in. The costume and production design are also impressive, providing a vivid and accurate representation of life in medieval Europe.Overall, “Medieval” is a must-see for fans of action and historical epics, and offers a thrilling and engaging journey through one of the most fascinating periods in history. Whether you’re a history buff or simply looking for a thrilling action movie, “Medieval” is a great choice that is sure to entertain and captivate.

What are the characters names again?
Acting, flat, no character build, there was literally ZERO attempt to bring the audience in to UNDERSTANDING or RELATING to a single character. Mid way through, I realized that I only knew the main characters name because everyone kept saying it. I found it hard to care about anything going on. The action sequences… boring, unimaginative, although gory, and POORLY acted out. The scenery was beautiful, the best thing going for this movie. Absolutely waste of time, if you are looking for a historical movie, stick to Braveheart, at least it has a great plot, characters that you cheer on and hope they prevail…this huge example of a turd, a nothing of a film, could care less, and at NO POINT in this entire film did I feel invested in ANY PART. Horrible, actors, director, and story line absolutely B rated by comparison of any good movie of this time period. A solid skip….do yourself a favor and wait a month for it to go to prime for free, you will thank me later.

Film rare , sur un sujet inconnu , surtout en France , Ben Foster est parfait pour ce rôle , la beauté des paysages , Prague et en République tchèque et Bohème , et le pont Charles sur la rivière Vitava ……..
