Overall Product Review:
Not all disks have the advertised language selections! Details in the Individual Disk Review section below.
I only watched these in English with English subtitles. Not sure what the region code is, but they work in the US, at least. Subtitles were basic white text without that annoying black background, but the font size was a little big in some places, covering the action. I didn’t watch all the bonus features yet, so my review won’t cover them. All five disks come in one case (standard sized), which came to me undamaged (the paper cover within the front cover sleeve was a little wrinkled). The each have their own clicky holder thing, so they weren’t rattling around loosely nor packed and stacked on one clicky-holder. Only disk 2 had cover art on the front of the disk–the rest were just silver with the title.
If you like dragon movies, this is a pretty solid collection to have. The stories are all in a linear timeline from movie 1 to 5, with mostly good continuity. They can also work as standalone films, however, with prologues giving enough context to make sense. And if you’ve already seen Dragonheart and just want it for your collection like I did, this is a pretty good deal. Disk 2 is annoying because it’s the only odd man out, being as it’s full screen whereas the others are widescreen, but that’s arguably the worst Dragonheart movie anyway, so meh. These aren’t all award-winning top quality movies, but they all have good rewatch value (#2 not so much unless you’re a nerd).
All in all, I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because even though I love all the movies, dorkiness and all, the one disk being fullscreen whereas the rest were widescreen irritates me.

Individual Disk Reviews:
Disk 1: widescreen, good visual quality, decent sound quality (I had to turn my volume way up to hear it, but otherwise it was fine)
I first saw this movie as a kid, so my nostalgia is a major factor here, but I really love it. Acting is a bit hammy in places, but it’s a bunch of low budget films about dragons, so what did you expect? The characters are mostly consistent, and the dragon animation is not that bad, especially given when the movie was made. Not much laugh-out-loud humor (not for lack of trying), but some scenes got a smile. If you start critiquing it really hard, most of the characters come off as idiots in a stupid story, but right from the first scene, you know that this isn’t a movie that you’re meant to critique really hard. Just sit back and enjoy!
Bonus features: “The Making of Dragonheart,” “Feature Commentary with Director Rob Cohen,” “Production Notes,” “Cast and Filmmakers,” “Theatrical Trailers”
Languages: English, Francais, Espanol, Feature Commentary with Director Rob Cohen (this was legitimately in the language selection submenu)

Disk 2: fullscreen, decent visual quality (lower than disk 1, image a little grainy), decent sound quality; in one scene, there appears to be a short 3-4 second lag as if it was buffering, with slowed, choppy motions
Comes across as lower budget than the first film, especially in the dragon animation, which looks pasted in. It also reuses a few scenes from the first movie for setting establishment or effects (I noticed maybe 3 rehashed scenes). I didn’t see this one as a kid, though I have seen it before when I was a teenager, so not as much nostalgia to cloud my senses. It’s not a terrible film, but a lot of the decisions and actions of characters throughout seem really forced. I often muttered “no one is this dense” throughout the story. Much of the humor seems to be geared toward a younger audience, with poop and fart jokes and the like. Ending is a bit corny, too, but that may mostly be due to the poor quality effects. All that being said, not being a person who minds all those things when I am aware of them going in, I still enjoyed a simple dragon story (emphasis on simple).
Bonus features: “Spotlight on Location,” “The Voice of Drake,” “Animating the Dragon,” “Trailer,” “Production Notes,” “Cast & Filmmakers,” “Recommendations,” “Universal Web Link”

Disk 3: widescreen, good visual quality, good audio quality
Does not appear as low budget as the previous two movies. The dragon animation is significantly better in this one, although the model looks really different from the previous two. There’s a lot more shaky-cam for the fight sequences, though, which is a detractor for me when it is overdone. Luckily it wasn’t terrible overdone. I saw this one (and the remaining two movies) for the first time somewhere in 2019-2020, so no nostalgia. I thought the story was fairly decent, and the acting was up to par, as well. Still some goofy attempts at humor, particularly with the druid/priest character, but you come to expect it with a Dragonheart movie. I don’t have many bad things to say except it’s a bit predictable for the redemption arc. I’m partial to redemption arcs, however, and predictable or not, this movie grants one.
Bonus features: “Bringing Drago to Life”

Disk 4: widescreen, good visual quality, good audio quality
I first saw this one about a year ago (2019/2020), and while I was watching it, I remember thinking that there was something really compelling and natural about how the main characters’ actions and personalities grew out of the circumstances they were in. I got the same impression this time through, though upon second watch, I notice some mild inconsistencies, particularly in regards to previous films. In addition, the slower parts seemed slower and they dragged on a bit. Some clunky editing here and there, but not too bad. Very interesting premise and I like the focus on the siblings, though there’s almost nothing about the Once-ways and knights and the old code in this movie as you usually see in Dragonheart movies.
Bonus features: “The Making of Dragonheart: Battle for the Heartfire,” “The Magic Behind Drago,” “Inside the Castle”
Languages: English 5.1, Español 5.1, Français 5.1
Subtitles: English SDH, Español, Français

Disk 5: widescreen, good visual quality, good audio quality
Pretty standard dragon animation, similar to the last two films. Compelling story, though corny in places. I am particularly fond of Darius’ goofiness, but if there’s anything this movie gets wrong, it’s when they take an obviously male horse and call it a female horse. I hate that so much. One scene is laggy, about 5 seconds long, but otherwise no issues. A few awkward face close-ups, hammy villains. This one also has some inconsistencies with previous movies, in very similar vein to the 4th film, but they’ll probably only annoy us nerds. And I don’t think it even mentioned the old code or valorous knights. Still, the movie holds up, like the rest, with good acting and character consistency.
Bonus features: “A New Legend,” “Creating Siveth”

A Fantastic Franchise
I immediately got into these films after watching the first Dragonheart and all the sequels and prequels. This series helps me understand dragons more and I saw that they are amazing creatures. The films have a great music theme and itâs one of the best themes in movies. Dragonheart is one of the best dragon films I ever saw since Eragon.
My wife tried it and said it doesn’t last. She thinks it’s a counterfit coco chanel perfume. She’s not very pleased with it! ð –
Dragon heart the collection.
I just received them and they look in new condition as ordered. Inspected the disc and found nothing adverse about the disc. After I watch them I’ll do another review. 08/13/24: Just finished watching them. No problems whatsoever. They are very clear and well worth the price. Thank you Amazon.
