    Excellent workout video!
I had never done a Jessica Smith exercise video, though I have many excellent videos from a variety of instructors with a wide variety of exercise types. What was I waiting for? Today I tried this video and did all 5 miles, because I am already fit and excercise regularly. It was long, but so much fun that the time flew by! Every mile was different but very well instructed and I thought easy to follow. The instructor is very upbeat and positive but not at all annoying. The music is truly background, with a strong beat you can follow, but there are no recognizable tunes or words to distract you. Each mile has a different purpose, including stimulating your brain as you exercise. There are only three people on the video–Jessica, her mom, and another female friend. There is always one person doing the less strenuous, lower impact move that you can follow. There are a couple of bonus workouts specifically targeting strengthening the knees and hips and feet and ankles, 15 minutes each, but I did not try them. The miles can also be chosen for a customized workout, if you want to do some miles one day and some another, but I did not use that option. If you are tired of a boring indoor walking program, I would definitely recommend this for variety, sound instruction, and a safe, doable workout. I did not find anything objectionable about this program. I purchased this video at full price, and was not given any promotional consideration to review it.

A new fan of Jessica Smith workout dvds
I recently got a recommendation to check out workout dvds by Jessica Smith. I have been wanting to try something new because a certain workout company (BB) is making it harder to get their workouts on dvd, not to mention that during the workout, they try to sell other products, which gets a little annoying after hearing it every time one works out. I don’t want to depend on (and continually pay for) streaming and I have found other products (like meal replacement shakes) that work just as well for less money. I can’t completely knock them though, because they are the first workouts I ever stuck with and I had some success with them in the past. But I still wanted to try something new, maybe something a little different, and see if I could get similar results. So after researching and looking at reviews for Jessica Smith workout dvds (which impressed me by how many great reviews all of the dvds had), I decided to buy these three –

I have to say that they did not disappoint, at all!! After only using them for almost a couple of months, I can easily say with confidence that they all work! These are my new favorite workouts! I love them all for different reasons. I use the Walk On 5 Fat Buring Miles dvd on the days I’m not using the Walk Off Belly Fat dvd (usually on the 6th and/or 7th day of the workout week) or when I don’t have much time that day to work out. This dvd is sectioned so that you can take as little time to exercise as just 25 minutes (1 mile) up to 83 minutes (all 5 miles), and anywhere in between. On hectic days, one can do just one or two miles, or on days where you have time, you can do all five, so it’s nice and convenient that it’s sectioned off the way it is. Definite plus for me! First off, I like the prices of her dvds. The other company’s prices were very high compared to hers (that is, if they were actually selling the workouts on dvd). The main thing I like about her dvds though is how upbeat and motivational she is during the workouts and she does every single second of the workout with the rest of us! She is motivational without being pushy (not a big fan of pushy instructors). I appreciate how different levels of the routine are offered so if you are a beginner (or feeling like lower impact that day), intermediate (middle ground), or advanced (or would like a challenge that day), all levels are truly covered. I also appreciate the feeling that she is not all or nothing (which I felt like was the motto of most of the instructors of the other workout company – not all but most). Her exercises work without being grueling. I’m honestly not a big fan of exercise and in the past, I had to talk myself into exercising for the day, but with her workouts, I don’t mind pushing play. And after most of her workouts, I don’t feel like I’m exhausted, but rather energized so it doesn’t make me dread having to workout for the day. By incorporating these dvds with a calorie counting app, I have lost the most weight I ever have. So she definitely has a new fan in me! I definitely recommend this dvd and I will be buying more of her dvds in the future (and cancelling the other company’s streaming service)!

    Early Walk On DVD
This Walk On set of five 1-mile routines seems to be an early video in the series. The quality of the routine is excellent as in later DVDs but there are slight differences in how it’s produced. To begin with, the music reminds me of aerobics classes from the 90s, a little disco flare to it. Jessica gives less information about the benefits of each move but they seem to be the foundation for moves in other DVDs. This 5 Fat Burning Miles selection would be good to start with if you are new to Walk On. The workouts feature Jessica, her mom Debbie and their friend Beth demonstrating different levels along with modifications. The studio was a little blah but I enjoyed the music and the routines didn’t strain my knees or quads too much. The slightly shorter routines worked well for me since I’m building up my endurance after an illness. I’m closer to Debbie in age, mostly get regular exercise including yoga and have muscles that are temporarily weaker than what would be normal for me. I only do two miles at a time currently though the flexible format makes it easy to do as many as you want in whichever order.
The individual miles start with a warm-up and are:
    1) Brain Booster – some unusual coordination challenges
    2) Belly, Buns & Thighs – emphasis on lower body
    3) Power Posture – works areas like upper back that help with posture
    4) Turbo Charged – somewhat similar to interval training
    5) Boogie Down – more dance-like
All run a little less than 15 minutes. A countdown timer appears in the lower right hand of the screen towards the end of each walk. The series can be followed in sequence or can be customized. There is no floor work in the main routines nor a need for any equipment. Two additional stretching and strengthening routines are included: The Strong Feet & Ankles Workout and The Strong Knees & Hips Routine. At least one requires a chair. I haven’t done either yet because I mainly use this series for cardio.
I don’t know whether it’s just because it’s my newest Walk On DVD or because the routines seem to flow more smoothly but I really enjoyed the 5 Fat Burning Miles. I have at least four Jessica Smith workout DVDs and, of the three that are Walk On miles, this one is the easiest for me because there is much less dipping down into squats. I still had enough of a workout to get sweaty by the end without feeling any knee strain. Of course, I substitute with the easier version of jumping jacks which was about the only alteration I found necessary on any of these five routines. It’s upbeat without going at too fast a pace and presents the foundations of exercises that reappear in altered versions on other videos. I recommend 5 Fat Burning Miles for anyone new to this workout series or anyone who needs a gentle on the joints yet good cardio workout.

Jessica has created another GREAT walking workoutDVD.
Its for all of us out there who don’t want to do insanity, but choose to honour our bodies and enjoy our workouts. She has totally converted me to this way of thinking.
Jessica is joined once again by her Mom Debbie (low impact) and friend Beth (high impact), which gives you the option to build up if you’re a beginner or get a good sweat on if you’re advanced.
There is a 5 minute warm up followed by five walks that are each roughly a mile:
Brain Booster Walk (15 minutes): I LOVED this one as it made your brain work along with your body. The walking itself was basic but the moves were unique/varied.
Belly, Buns & Thighs Walk (15 minutes): Just as it’s described! Mini squats, torso twisting moves and side steps that target those areas. If you’ve done her other walks of this nature you know what you’re getting into.
Power Posture Walk (15 Minutes): This was great. Jessica focuses on your upper back and shoulder muscles that help with your posture.
Turbo Charged Walk (13 Minutes): This is a little like her low impact HIIT workouts which I love ! It’s fast paced and I did it using the low impact version but it includes squat jumps, skiers, jogging, etc. There is a lot packed into these 13 minutes! However her mum always provide a low impact option. SO no panic !
Boogie Down Walk (15 Minutes): This was my probably my least favorite of the walks. I loved the dance party walk on her 15 minute fat blasts disc and this didn’t come close as far as the fun factor goes. I’d do this one just to get my steps in but will pop in the dance walk when I’m looking for a good time. But still a good basic easy 1 mile to do.
    There are TWO bonus sections
“Strong Feet and Ankles” (15 minutes) or “Strong Knees and Hips” (15 minutes)
Both of which I am pleased with as I have had surgery on my hip a couple of years ago and love the stretching and mobility side, which is exactly what my physio recommends.
Overall I love JESSICA anyway, this is a great additional to her family of DVD’s. GREAT JOB JESSICA!.
Please also check out her FREE fitness videos on her YouTube site JESSICASMITHTV and join the revolution. – WALK ON !

I love Jessica Smith’s workouts, and this DVD is my favourite so far! 4 different short workouts that you can mix and match for tons of variety in your workout. I have a bad knee so I can’t do high impact anymore, but I still need a high intensity workout and Jessica always fits that bill. With 3 intensity levels for every move – and that the camera actually shows you consistently – you can easily mix and match intensity throughout the workout. I also love that Jessica comes up with new and different moves and combinations in each new video. When you work out exclusively with DVDs at home variety is key to sticking with it. Jessica’s videos are terrific – buy one (or more) you won’t be disappointed!

A fantastic workout DVD. Love Jessica’s workouts! I have five of Jessica’s workouts now, and mix and match monthly to get the best possible workout. No matter your size, weight or age, you should keep yourself fit and lose weight at the same time, although watch your diet!
